DBS Scholarship
Students enrolled in the Department of Buddhist Studies (DBS) may apply for "DBS Scholarship", contingent upon meeting the requisite criteria, such as academic performance and completion of practice courses (please refer to the guidelines and application form below).
Please note that students are responsible for their own room and board expenses during holiday breaks.
Applications for the DBS Scholarship open following the start of each semester, with successful applicants receiving their award around the mid-term period.
During the winter and summer holidays, students have the unique opportunity to apply for accommodation and/or part-time employment at Fo Guang Shan or the Buddha Museum, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the vibrant Buddhist community. For detailed information on work permits in Taiwan, please refer to the EZ Work Taiwan website. International students are warmly welcomed and eligible to work in Taiwan, providing an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience while embracing the rich cultural heritage of Taiwan.
If a student prefers not to participate in the communal living arrangement outlined in the Practice Courses, or opts for alternative accommodation, such as another university's dormitory or private housing, they are welcome to make that choice with full flexibility. However, please note that eligibility for the DBS Scholarship is tied to the communal living experience, and choosing a different housing option would mean forgoing this scholarship opportunity. We encourage students to embrace the unique communal living aspect, as it offers a rich, shared experience that enhances personal growth and academic engagement.
