Curriculum Features
 
BA Undergraduate Program 
  
A balanced and solid foundation:  
Apart from the specialized courses we offer on Buddhism, students will take general education courses in humanities, social management disciplines and world culture.
 
Multi-lingual training:  
In addition to Buddhist Studies, students recieve training in Buddhist languages such as Sanskrit, Pāli, and Tibetan.  A heavy emphasis is placed on English and Japanese language acquisition.  
 
Equal emphasis on academic and practical learning:  
Students learn about Buddhist ethics, Buddhist psychology and Buddhist art.  They also participate in courses that build leadership and public speaking skills. 
 
Shared e-learning resources:  
Utilizing modern technology in teaching and learning, students participate in online courses with other universities in countries such as the United States, Australia and Brazil.  
 
Alternative learning locations around the world:  
Learning opportunities include university internships as well as summer and winter holiday internships offered by the various departments and branch temples of Fo Guang Shan around Taiwan.

MA Postgraduate Program
 
Developing talent in the field of Buddhist studies research:
The program fosters the acquisition of knowledge from diverse academic fields and prepares students to develop and contribute their own research. 
 
Multi-lingual training:
Classes are conducted in English, and heavy emphasis is placed on training in Sanskrit, Pāli, Japanese and Tibetan.  
 
Holistic approach to Buddhist studies:
The program emphasizes both textual research and field work in order to better understand Buddhist history and scriptures as well as shed light on living Buddhist traditions and practices around the world.
 
Shared e-learning resources:
Utilizing modern educational technology, students participate in online courses with universities in countries such as the United States, Australia and Brazil.
 
Alternative learning locations around the world:
The program provides an “Offshore Learning” program as well as career planning advice. Students can study on campus during the semester, and summer and winter holiday internships are offered by various departments and branch temples of Fo Guang Shan around Taiwan.
