On the morning of August 26, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., the Department of Buddhist Studies warmly welcomed the Fo Guang kinship groups from Ladakh, India, and Malaysia. The visiting group consisted of 61 members, with 30 from India and 31 from Malaysia. The accompanying monks from Ladakh included Venerables Youyi, Rujun, Ruzheng, and Rushan. The arrival of the kinship group brought joy and liveliness to the usually quiet Yunshui Building , which had been empty during the summer break.
Under the warm reception of teachers Lin Hsinyi and Jian Ruiyao, as well as life mentor Venerable Miao Jia and students, the group enthusiastically toured the learning environment of the department. They were deeply impressed by the beautiful surroundings of Fo Guang University and the professional educational philosophy of the Buddhist Studies Department. When the Ladakh group visited the Buddhist Library and saw the collection of the Derge edition of the Kanjur and Tanjur in palm-leaf manuscript format, they were filled with awe and joy. They immediately offered respectful homage to the scriptures and recited Tibetan prayers. Throughout the visit, the group expressed their gratitude to Venerable Master Hsing Yun for founding the university and promoting education, actively supporting the school's educational mission.
The interaction was lively and fruitful, with participants sharing their experiences and insights on Buddhist culture. This visit not only deepened the understanding of the Department of Buddhist Studies among the Fo Guang kinship groups from Ladakh and Malaysia but also infused new energy into the promotion of Buddhist culture and strengthened the unity of Fo Guang practitioners worldwide.
