To safeguard the natural environment and promote sustainability, the Student Association of the Department of Buddhist Studies at Fo Guang University organized a "Waiao Beach Cleanup and Lanyang Museum Visit" on April 26, led by Professor Jian Ru-En, with a total of 38 enthusiastic students and faculty members participating. Together, they demonstrated heartfelt care for the Earth through meaningful action.
At 8:00 AM, participants gathered at Waiao Beach and began a one-hour cleanup. Despite light drizzle, students worked energetically in teams, picking up every piece of litter scattered across the beach. As they bent down to remove debris, they not only purified the environment but also planted seeds of love and respect for the planet in their hearts. The atmosphere was warm and lively, and the joy of practicing environmental protection was evident amid the raindrops and sea breeze.
Afterward, the group visited the Lanyang Museum, where they explored rich exhibits on natural geography, local history, and cultural heritage. Through this experience, students broadened their horizons and deepened their appreciation for the unique beauty of the Lanyang Plain.
The event concluded successfully with a sense of warmth and Dharma joy. We sincerely thank all participating teachers and students for making this day a beautiful memory filled with environmental commitment and meaningful learning. The Department of Buddhist Studies will continue to take concrete actions to protect the Earth and contribute to a sustainable future. 🌎
