On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Venerable Miao Yao, the abbot of Fo Guang Shan Chung Tian Temple, accompanied two scholars from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, along with volunteer Glenn Armstrong from the guest reception team at Nan Tien Temple, to visit the Department of Buddhist Studies at Fo Guang University. The guests were warmly received by Professor Kuo Feng-Yen, and the visit served as a platform for academic and cultural exchange.

The visiting scholars included Professor Yongming Feng from QUT’s School of Computer Science and Mr. Quan Hai Zhang, a senior computer networking technician at QUT. They expressed keen interest in the learning environment, curriculum design, and educational direction of the Department of Buddhist Studies. They were particularly impressed by how the department cultivates students’ Buddhist literacy and research abilities, and praised the unique integration of academic and spiritual life within the College of Buddhist Studies.

During the visit, the guests toured the department’s library, dining hall, and meditation hall. Both parties engaged in meaningful discussions on Buddhist academic education, curriculum features, and student development models. The visiting scholars remarked that the department’s dedicated Buddhist library and its complete collection of the Chinese Buddhist Canon reflect Fo Guang University’s dedication and distinctive approach to promoting Buddhist education.
