BA Undergraduate Program
A balanced and solid foundation of fundamental understanding: Apart from the professional courses on Buddhism offered, students take general education courses in humanities, social management disciplines and world culture.
Multi-lingual training: In addition to Buddhist Studies, students are trained in Buddhist languages such as Sanskrit, Pāli, and Tibetan. A heavy emphasis is placed on English and Japanese language acquisition.
Equal emphasis on academic and practical learning: Students learn about Buddhist ethics, Buddhist psychology and Buddhist art. They also participate in leadership and public speaking skills courses.
Shared e-learning resources: Utilising modern technology in teaching and learning, students share online courses with universities in countries such as the USA, Australia and Brazil.
Alternative learning locations around the world: Learning opportunities include university internships as well as summer and winter holiday internships offered by the various departments and branch Temples of Fo Guang Shan around Taiwan which students take in turn.
MA Post-graduate Program ( English Track)
Professional Training in Research: The program fosters Buddhist professionals and research personnel a well-rounded acquisition of academic knowledge.
Multi-lingual class interaction: Classes are conducted in English, and heavy emphasis is placed on training in Sanskrit, Pāli, Japanese and Tibetan.
Equal emphasis on academic and practical learning: Equal emphasis is placed on research into Indian and Chinese history and the Buddhist scriptures of the Northern and Southern Buddhist traditions, and on Buddhist affairs and management.
Shared e-learning resources: Utilising modern technology in teaching and learning, the students share online courses with universities in countries such as America, Australia and Brazil.
Alternative learning locations around the world: The program provides an “Offshore Learning” program as well as career planning advice. Students study on campus during the semester, and summer and winter holiday internships are offered by the various departments and branch Temples of Fo Guang Shan around Taiwan which students take in turn.
