On August 5, 2025, Venerable Ruxuan, Supervisor of Fo Guang Shan Osaka, and Venerable Rukai, Supervisor of Fo Guang Shan Fukuoka, led Matsuda Shinko, Director of the Osaka Fo Guang Association; Venerable Zhiquan, a doctoral student at Fo Guang University; as well as Venerable Ming’an and Venerable Mingcheng, students of the Fo Guang Shan Monastic College, to visit Buddhist University in Kyoto.
President Kazuyuki Satō of Buddhist University personally received the delegation, accompanied by the Vice President and several senior administrators for a roundtable discussion.
During the meeting, President Satō remarked that Buddhist University upholds the spirit of Buddhism as its educational philosophy, emphasizing the cultivation of character and a sense of gratitude—an approach that resonates deeply with the vision behind Fo Guang Shan’s founding of universities. He expressed hope that this exchange would help advance and enrich Buddhist education.
Venerable Ruxuan sincerely invited President Satō to attend the upcoming Fo Guang Shan University Presidents Forum in November and expressed the wish for more opportunities for mutual visits and collaboration in the future. The exchange concluded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, adding another valuable chapter to the academic and Buddhist interactions between Japan and Taiwan.
