Department Features

To nurture international Dharma propagators with a global vision:
By having an international learning environment which has attracted both teachers and students from around the world, our cultural exchange and learning will bring about a global vision for our department.

Equal Emphasis Placed on Practice and Theory:
The department emphasizes both Buddhist thought and it’s practical application, the latter including religious services, Dharma propagation and actualization of Buddhism.

Integration of modern and traditional Buddhist teaching methods and techniques:
While considering the importance of traditional Chinese Buddhist “public monastery” lifestyle, we also take a modern teaching approach to language study, computing, digital technology, and so forth.

Solid lineup of professors and instructors from around the world:
Our faculty comes from diverse academic background, including Taiwan, Japan, Europe, the Americas, and Australia.

Career opportunities after graduation:
As part of the larger Fo Guang Shan community, the possibilities for careers after graduation include a large range of educational institutions, cultural and literary departments, charity and relief work, and other areas of applied Buddhism.
